Bihar Transfers Khagaria SP Bhanu Pratap Singh After Wife’s Harassment Complaint

The Bihar home department issued an order on Wednesday transferring Khargaria superintendent of police Bhanu Pratap Singh, a 2021‑batch IPS officer, to police headquarters. The move followed a complaint filed by his wife, Pooja Singh, with the state’s director general of police. She alleged that he had harassed her and prevented her from speaking to their six‑year‑old daughter. Pooja Singh also staged a dharna outside the chief minister’s residence in Patna a few days earlier. The complaint is under investigation; no FIR has been lodged yet, according to sub‑divisional police officer‑1 Anu Kumari. The Bihar State Women’s Commission has summoned Singh to respond to the allegations and is required to submit a report within three days. She has said she does not want a divorce and is willing to withdraw the complaint if her husband is amenable to reason. Bhanu Pratap Singh was not available for comment. She and Singh were married in 2016 while he was still a civil services aspirant.
