An Indian Air Force Tejas fighter jet sustained damage to its airframe while landing at a frontline air base, officials confirmed. The incident occurred during routine operations, and an inquiry has been initiated to determine the exact cause.
According to initial reports, the aircraft encountered issues during the landing phase, resulting in structural damage. The pilot is said to be safe, and no casualties have been reported.
The Tejas is India’s indigenously developed Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), designed and manufactured under the country’s push for self-reliance in defence production. The aircraft forms a key component of the Indian Air Force’s modernisation strategy.
Defence authorities stated that standard operating procedures were followed, and safety mechanisms were activated. A detailed technical investigation will assess whether mechanical, environmental or operational factors contributed to the incident.

Such occurrences are typically examined through a court of inquiry to identify lessons and prevent recurrence. Officials emphasised that flight safety remains a top priority and that frontline operational readiness has not been affected.
The Tejas fleet continues to play an important role in strengthening India’s air defence capabilities.
