The Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has clarified that there is no ban on the supply of commercial LPG cylinders, addressing confusion that had spread among distributors and businesses in the hospitality sector.
The clarification came after reports and interpretations of an official communication led many distributors and restaurant owners to believe that commercial LPG supply might be restricted. This created concern among businesses that depend heavily on LPG cylinders for daily operations.
Officials explained that the earlier order was misunderstood and that commercial LPG distribution continues as usual. The ministry emphasized that there has been no directive stopping the supply of LPG cylinders used by restaurants, hotels, and other commercial establishments.
The hospitality industry had expressed concern over the confusion, as any disruption in LPG supply could affect restaurant kitchens, catering services, and other food-related businesses that rely on gas cylinders for cooking.
Distributors also sought clarification from authorities after receiving queries from customers and business operators regarding the availability of commercial LPG cylinders.

Following the government’s statement, industry representatives said the clarification has helped ease uncertainty among stakeholders.
Commercial LPG cylinders play a critical role in India’s hospitality and food service sectors, making consistent supply essential for daily business operations.
