By Sun Nov 08 2026 - 10:16 • 1 MIN READ

A yellow fog warning has been issued by Met Éireann for Connacht, northern Leinster and three Ulster counties on Sunday night, citing poor visibility and difficult travel conditions. The warning covers Donegal, Cavan, Monaghan, Louth, Meath, Westmeath, Longford and the five Connacht counties of Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon and Sligo. It follows a previous warning that covered 25 counties, leaving only Donegal outside the alert. The UK Met Office has not issued a warning. The alert is in force from 9 pm Sunday to 11 am Monday, potentially affecting commuters at the start of the work week. A yellow warning is issued when weather conditions are not especially unusual but danger exists in localised areas. Sunday was expected to be dry overall after patches of fog and mist lifted in the affected areas. Patches of rain were forecast from the southwest in areas not under the fog warning. The week ahead is predicted to begin milder and wetter, with rain and drizzle arriving from the south on Monday night, followed by heavier rain on Tuesday and Wednesday and cooler, brighter conditions later in the week.
