Australia were bowled out for 371 on the second day of the third Ashes Test at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday, adding some valuable late runs before England finally wrapped up the innings.
Resuming the morning at 326 for 8, with Mitchell Starc unbeaten on 33 and Nathan Lyon yet to open his account, the hosts took advantage of England’s tiring bowlers as temperatures climbed towards a punishing 39°C.
Starc Sparks Late Momentum
Starc wasted little time in pushing Australia’s total forward, striking five boundaries in quick succession to frustrate the visitors. His counter-attacking approach lifted the total past 350 before Jofra Archer cut short the charge, bowling Starc for a brisk 54.

Last-Wicket Stand Adds Frustration
After Starc’s dismissal, Nathan Lyon and Scott Boland continued to add runs, stitching together a 23-run partnership for the final wicket. England eventually broke through when Lyon was trapped leg before wicket by Archer for nine, bringing Australia’s innings to a close.
Carey and Khawaja Lead the Way
Earlier, Alex Carey anchored Australia’s batting with an impressive 106, while Usman Khawaja looked in fine touch with a well-made 82, giving the hosts a solid platform.
For England, Jofra Archer was the standout bowler, finishing with excellent figures of 5 for 53.

Series Context
Australia currently lead the five-Test Ashes series 2–0, following convincing eight-wicket victories in Perth and Brisbane. A win or even a draw in Adelaide would be enough for the hosts to retain the Ashes.
With England now set to respond, the focus shifts to how their batters handle Australia’s bowling attack on a scorching Adelaide surface.
