First Round of NEET UG Counselling for MBBS and Other UG Medical Courses Begins August 4

Date:

The first round of counselling for admission to MBBS and other undergraduate medical courses under the All India Quota is set to begin on August 4, according to the Medical Counselling Committee. The new academic session for the 2026-27 batch will start on September 8.

The counselling schedule applies to admissions in deemed and central universities, as well as All India Quota seats. The first round will run from August 4 to August 17, with the last date for joining the allotted college fixed for August 22. Candidates will need to complete registration, choice filling, seat allotment and reporting within the prescribed timeline.

As per the schedule, registration for Round 1 will begin on August 5 and continue until August 12. Choice filling and locking will be available from August 6 to August 13. The seat allotment result is expected on August 17, after which students who receive seats will have to report to their allotted colleges between August 18 and August 22.

For state quota seats, the first round of counselling will begin on August 13 and continue until August 22. Candidates allotted seats through state counselling will need to join by August 28. This separate schedule will allow states to conduct their admission process in alignment with the central counselling calendar.

The Medical Counselling Committee has outlined four rounds in the overall admission process. After the first round, the second round will be held from August 24 to September 2, followed by the third round from September 10 to September 18. The schedule is designed to ensure that admissions are completed in time for the start of the academic session.

For medical aspirants, the first round is an important step because it determines the initial allocation of seats across government, central and deemed institutions. Candidates are advised to keep their documents ready, follow the official counselling portal closely and monitor deadlines carefully to avoid missing their chance.

With the session beginning on September 8, the counselling process will now move quickly through its stages. For thousands of NEET-qualified students, the coming weeks will decide where they begin their MBBS or other UG medical course journey.
