New Delhi: The national capital is set to witness a continuation of its gray, smoggy mornings, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) ruling out immediate relief from the current weather patterns.

While daytime skies are expected to remain clear, the IMD warns that shallow to moderate fog will dominate the early hours across Delhi. The Air Quality Index (AQI) remains in the ‘very poor’ category, creating a toxic combination of cold and pollution that has already disrupted flight operations and reduced visibility significantly.
The Week Ahead According to the latest bulletin, dense fog is most likely to develop in isolated pockets of Delhi and neighboring regions—including Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh—through December 17.
- Dec 17–18: Mostly clear days following foggy mornings.
- Dec 19: Partly cloudy skies with shallow fog persisting at dawn.
Temperatures remain stable but chilly at night. Maximum temperatures will settle around 23–25°C, while minimums will fluctuate between 8°C and 11°C.

Experts have reiterated health warnings, urging citizens to minimize outdoor exertion during early morning hours when pollution levels and fog density are at their peak.
