Seattle Seahawks backup quarterback Drew Lock is expected to start Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals, despite dealing with severe tendinitis in his throwing elbow, according to a report from The Ringer’s Tom Pelissero. Lock has been listed as a limited participant in practice on all 12 of Seattle’s injury reports over the past four weeks and was inactive for the team’s last two games, though he remained on the roster as the emergency third quarterback. Prior to Thursday’s practice, Lock told reporters his elbow was “doing a lot better” and expressed excitement about being back on the field. Head coach Mike Macdonald confirmed that Lock will start, with third‑stringer Jalen Milroe as backup. Sam Darnold, the starter, is out with a quad injury. Lock had played most of the first two games after Darnold exited with a glute injury, completing 35 of 48 passes for 422 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions in victories over the New England Patriots and the Cardinals. Darnold, a two‑time Pro Bowler, has struggled this season, completing 60.2% of his passes for 1,478 yards, 10 touchdowns and nine interceptions, and the team is 2‑4 since his return from injury in Week 3.
