The Kerala Water Authority (KWA) has begun a major effort to clear the Pipeline Road on the Peroorkada‑Aruvikkara stretch of encroachments and unauthorized constructions. The utility announced on Saturday that it has intensified action against encroachers, and illegal structures were removed at the Vazhayila junction on Friday. KWA said the measures are intended to protect the Pipeline Road and related assets and to ensure access for repairs and maintenance. The Pipeline Road carries the transmission main that brings water from Aruvikkara to the capital. KWA has asked encroachers to vacate voluntarily to avoid further action. Notices are being served under the KWA (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupation and Removal of Unauthorised Constructions) Regulations, 2014. If occupants do not vacate within the notice period, the Executive Engineer will issue a final speaking order. Failure to vacate within the 30‑day deadline will lead to eviction with police assistance. In August, KWA ordered removal of all permanent, semi‑permanent and other encroachments from the Pipeline Road in Kochi as part of preliminary steps for laying pipelines from a proposed 190‑mld water treatment plant.
