IIT Graduate Arrested in Bengaluru for Threatening Ayushmann Khurrana on Instagram
By Ahmed Ali

The Mumbai Crime Branch has detained 30‑year‑old IIT graduate Vaibhav Mishra of Bengaluru after he allegedly sent threat messages to actor Ayushmann Khurrana on Instagram and demanded money. Police are questioning Mishra to determine his motive and whether the money demand was an extortion attempt, though they suspect the act may have been a prank. The arrest follows a separate incident in which actor Tusshar Kapoor reportedly received an extortion threat demanding Rs 5 crore. In that case, the sender claimed to be Harry Boxer, a supposed member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, but the Mumbai Crime Branch found no match between the voice in the message and available samples of Boxer, leading investigators to suspect impersonation. The probe was transferred to the Anti‑Extortion Cell, and no link between the two cases has been confirmed.
