Arteta Reassures Zubimendi Amid Chelsea Interest
Mikel Arteta has told Spain international Martin Zubimendi that he remains a key part of Arsenal’s plans. The Gunners have begun their Premier League title defence strongly, winning eight of nine matches, and have also started well in Europe, keeping an unbeaten run after a 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich. However, several high-profile players have struggled for game time. Zubimendi, who played only in the Carabao Cup last season, has been linked with a move to Chelsea, where central midfield options are limited. Arteta said, ‘He’s a very important player for us. He’s been a bit unlucky with injuries. He has had some minutes and we have options in midfield. Like anybody else, everybody has to be ready. Everybody is going to have the chances to play. Then it’s about performing and helping the team to win football matches. But his energy, his application and his will to help are unquestionable, and he’s an unbelievable player for us.’
