New Delhi witnessed steady rainfall on Tuesday morning, bringing noticeable relief from rising temperatures across the national capital region. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert, warning residents of intermittent showers and possible thunderstorms in parts of Delhi and adjoining areas.
According to weather officials, the rainfall has led to a significant drop in day temperatures, creating cooler and more comfortable conditions compared to the past few days. Overcast skies and light to moderate showers were reported in several areas, including South Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram.
The IMD stated that the weather pattern is influenced by a western disturbance and moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal. While heavy rainfall is not expected throughout the day, scattered showers accompanied by gusty winds may continue.
Authorities have advised commuters to remain cautious during peak traffic hours, as waterlogging has been reported in low-lying areas. Officials also warned of slippery roads and reduced visibility in some stretches.

The yellow alert indicates that residents should stay updated with official weather advisories but does not signal extreme danger. Apart from Delhi, rainfall activity is also expected in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand over the next 24 hours.
Meteorologists predict that the spell of rain could persist intermittently through the week, helping keep temperatures below seasonal averages.
