Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s upcoming spy thriller Alpha has received clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification with a UA 16+ certificate, bringing the Yash Raj Films project closer to its theatrical release. According to certification details, the Hindi version of the film with English subtitles has an approved runtime of 140 minutes and 48 seconds, or 2 hours, 20 minutes and 48 seconds. Before granting clearance, the CBFC asked the makers to make several modifications, including redrafting the opening disclaimer and adding English subtitles to all songs. The board also directed changes to some violent visuals, with specific shots replaced at certain points in the film and a multiple-stabbing sequence toned down using alternate visuals. In addition, one explicit word was removed, another visual was modified, and anti-alcohol static disclaimers were ordered wherever applicable. The makers were also asked to include mandatory certification cards and end-scroll details as per required rules, submit the dialogue script, provide a parental consent letter for the child artiste and clarify the film’s final runtime. Importantly, the CBFC record indicates that no footage was deleted from the film; instead, the required changes were handled through modifications and replacement visuals. Alpha is part of the expanding YRF Spy Universe and has already created strong curiosity among Bollywood fans because it brings Alia Bhatt and Sharvari into a large-scale action space. With the censor process now completed, attention is expected to shift toward the film’s release campaign, promotional material and how the movie positions itself within one of Bollywood’s most popular spy franchises.
