Four Family Members, Including Two Children, Perish in Odisha Home Fire

Four members of a family, including an 11‑year‑old girl and an eight‑month‑old boy, died when a fire broke out in their house in Odisha’s Jajpur district. The blaze occurred around 8 p.m. on Saturday at the residence of Sk Nizam Uddin in Nalipur village, Badachana block. Police say the cause of the fire is still unknown, though a short circuit is suspected. Local resident Ajay Kumar Samal reported that Nizamuddin had arrived from Gopalpur with his daughter and grandchildren. The fire started while his elder daughter‑in‑law was cooking, and the daughter, daughter‑in‑law and the two children were killed. Fire services from Chandikhol and Balichandrapur responded and carried out firefighting and rescue operations. The deceased were identified as Nizamuddin’s daughter Gul Afsa Parveen (26), daughter‑in‑law Tabassum Parveen (40), granddaughter Roshni Parveen (11) and the eight‑month‑old grandson. A youth sustained serious burn injuries; he was first admitted to the Badachana Community Health Centre and later transferred to Cuttack as his condition worsened.
