Chase’s Batting and Bowling Propel West Indies Ahead in Bangladesh Test

West Indies skipper Roston Chase contributed with both bat and ball to keep Bangladesh under pressure on the third day of the first ICC World Test Championship 2025‑27 Test. The visitors’ first innings ended at 245, 27 runs short of Bangladesh’s 272, after Chase remained unbeaten on 43. Bangladesh finished the day at 79/6, holding a 106‑run lead. West Indies resumed at 134/4 with Tagenarine Chanderpaul (43*) and Justin Greaves (15*) on the crease. Chanderpaul went on to score his third Test half‑century, while Greaves added 46 and Shoriful Islam was dismissed for 56. Nayeem Hasan took 4 wickets for 33 runs. In Bangladesh’s second innings, Chase took three wickets in two overs (11th & 13th), dismissing Shadman Islam (13), Najmul Hossain Shanto (10) and Towhid Hridoy (0) to leave the hosts at 33/4. Jomel Warrican then removed Litton Das, and later Mehidy Hasan Miraz, reducing Bangladesh to 53/6. Nayeem and Jaker Ali were unbeaten on 18 each when bad light ended play. West Indies batting coach Floyd Reifer said the team would approach any target positively and that the bowling in the third innings had levelled the playing field, even though a first‑innings advantage was desired. He praised the disciplined bowling and consistency of the team’s lengths and lines.
