Christoph Baumgartner said RB Leipzig will need about ten points to keep their Champions League knockout hopes alive after Wednesday’s 2‑1 loss to Manchester City. Leipzig had two late goals from Ridle Baku and Antonio Nusa, but Erling Haaland scored a late winner for City. The match left Leipzig with three points from four European games, below expectations, but Baumgartner stressed that the team still has plenty to play for. "I think we know that we're going to need around ten points. So we have to deliver, but I definitely believe we can do it," the Austrian midfielder told DAZN. He added that the opponents faced so far have not been easy and that while competitiveness is evident, points are essential. Baumgartner expressed frustration over the two occasions when Leipzig fought back from a deficit only to be undone. "Extremely bitter," he said. "I think we played really well for large parts of the game, gave everything, and it hurts so much to lose this match. In a game like this, at home, you absolutely have to take at least a point." Leipzig will next face Augsburg before the international break, and will meet RC Lens on 24 November, a French side also looking to recover after a 9‑1 defeat to Como.
