The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and its allies, the Jana Sena Party (JSP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), continued their strong performance in the elections to the Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTCs) and Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies (MPTCs) after a decisive victory over the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) in the Urban Local Body polls. Polling took place on November 5 for 582 ZPTCs and 7,767 MPTCs across 28 districts, following the declaration of 77 ZPTCs and 2,051 MPTCs as unanimously elected.

According to information released by the State Election Commission (SEC) at 9 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2026, the TDP won 229 ZPTCs, comprising 71 unanimous and 158 contested seats. The JSP secured 36 seats (2 unanimous and 34 contested), and the BJP won 8 seats (3 unanimous and 5 contested). The YSRCP captured 20 ZPTCs, with one unanimous and 19 contested.

In the MPTC elections, the TDP claimed 4,823 seats, including 1,780 unanimous and 3,043 contested. The JSP won 644 seats (107 unanimous and 537 contested), the BJP secured 130 seats (53 unanimous and 77 contested), and the YSRCP obtained 1,050 seats (89 unanimous and 961 contested).

State Election Commissioner Anil Chandra Punetha issued a press release stating that the counting process was still underway and proceeding peacefully.

The TDP dominated most ZPTCs and MPTCs in Kadapa district, a traditional YSRCP stronghold. After a notable win in the Pulivendula Municipality elections, the TDP also captured the Pulivendula ZPTC, marking a significant upset in an area historically associated with the Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy family. The TDP maintained a lead in the Kuppam ZPTC, the home turf of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, and secured a majority of other ZPTCs and MPTCs in Chittoor and Annamayya districts.

IT Minister Nara Lokesh described the coalition’s success as the “fruits of their good governance and proof of the perfect coordination among the ruling parties.” TDP State President Palla Srinivasa Rao said the results reflected widespread support for the party and its allies, citing good governance as a key factor and framing the outcome as a mandate for welfare, development, and social justice. He added that the electorate’s trust in Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, and the BJP state leadership underscored the coalition’s achievements. A BJP spokesperson noted that the large vote share demonstrated public confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

YSRCP leaders alleged irregularities in the counting of ZPTC and MPTC votes and claimed the SEC’s response to their complaints was untimely.
