Eastward Shift of Cold Front Brings Spotty Showers, Followed by Dry, Mild Weather

The cold front that had been stalled to the west of the area is now moving east, producing a few isolated showers in the eastern Big Bend through the end of today. A second front arriving this evening will bring drier, cooler air that will spread across the tri‑state region over the weekend and into next week, bringing temperatures back to near seasonal averages. Humidity will ease as clouds move in and out. Nighttime temperatures will drop into the 70s and 60s, falling to mid‑to‑upper 50s by Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon will be mild, with temperatures in the mid‑70s, low humidity, and sunshine broken by high, thin clouds. Winds will come from the north at 10 mph or less. Sunday morning lows will be in the upper 40s to lower 50s, with clear and partly cloudy skies throughout the day and temperatures rising to the mid‑70s. The rest of next week will see occasional passing clouds and steady, seasonable temperatures in the 70s during the day and around 50 °F at night. A disturbance will move across the northern Gulf around the middle of next week, offering a minor chance of a few showers, but nothing heavy or severe is expected, and most of the region should remain dry. No warm, humid air is anticipated through the end of next week. --Casanova Nurse, Chief Meteorologist
