BUET Expert Highlights Mathematics as Core of AI Development

Reheena Nasrin of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in Dhaka emphasized that mathematics underpins modern artificial intelligence, noting that advanced AI capabilities, predictive power and logical reasoning are deeply rooted in mathematical equations, frameworks and data algorithms. She spoke at the valedictory session of a three‑day international conference on “Computation Science and Intelligent Engineering,” organized by the Department of Mathematics at Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education (Deemed‑to‑be‑University). Nasrin stressed that strong mathematical foundations will remain essential for the future advancement of digital intelligence.

The final day’s technical sessions featured lectures by prominent experts. G. Sobhalatha of Sri Krishnadevaraya University in Anantapur presented on ‘Lexicographic Product Graph,’ while Bukke Kiran Naik, a scientist from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela, delivered a lecture on ‘Intelligent Thermodynamics,’ focusing on data‑driven systems optimisation and energy‑water nexus solutions.

Conference convener Charan reported that more than 200 research papers were presented by academicians and researchers from reputed universities across India, reflecting the event’s contribution to academic research and knowledge exchange. Certificates of participation and excellence were awarded to the paper presenters by dignitaries.

The valedictory session was attended by Vice‑Chancellor P. Venkateswara Rao, Pro‑Vice‑Chancellor A.V. Ratna Prasad, dean D. Venkata Rao and registrar M. Ravichand. Head of the Mathematics Department Ch. Baby Rani, senior faculty members K. Hemalatha, J. Siva Ram Prasad and M.V.D.N.S. Madhavi, along with other faculty members, department heads, research scholars and students, also participated in the programme.
