Indore Authorities Ban Four Diljit Dosanjh Songs from Upcoming Concert

Indore officials have prohibited four songs by Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh from being played at his November 15 concert in the city. The banned tracks are "Patiala Peg," "5 Tara Theke," "Jeb Vicho Feem," and "Jatt Fire Karda." The decision follows a complaint filed by Dr. Punditrao Dharenavar of Chandigarh. The district child protection officer directed the concert venue manager to allow only children older than five to attend and to refrain from playing the four songs, citing concerns that they could negatively influence young listeners. The letter also referenced a July 22, 2019, Punjab and Haryana High Court order that requires police in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh to prevent the performance of songs that glorify liquor, drugs, and violence, including at live events. Dharenavar’s complaint urged authorities to ban the singer from performing the four songs, even with altered lyrics, and to prohibit him from inviting children on stage or wearing two crossed silver bullet belts—metallic silver cartridges—during the show.
