22‑Year‑Old Arrested After Killing Father in Loni Home

A 22‑year‑old man was arrested after allegedly killing his 58‑year‑old father at their home in Loni’s Ashok Vihar early on Saturday, police said. The incident occurred between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. on Saturday while the father and other family members were asleep. Police identified the deceased as Mohammad Irfan, 58, and the suspect as Mohammad Shavez, 22. According to ACP Ram Kishan of Loni Circle, the suspect attacked his father with a sharp‑edged weapon, a sickle, inflicting multiple severe injuries to his head. Hearing his father’s cries, other family members rushed to him and apprehended the boy. They informed the police and took the injured man to a hospital, where he was declared dead. The police later arrested the suspect and recovered the weapon.

Officers said the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute on Friday evening. The suspect had fought with his younger sister on Friday, and the father sided with his daughter. He then scolded the suspect for fighting with his sister and slapped him. Angered, the suspect waited until late at night to attack his father while he was asleep. He picked up a weapon kept in the house and struck his father’s head with it. The elder sister filed a police complaint, and an FIR was registered against the suspect at Loni police station.

The FIR, accessed by HT, states: “Around 2 a.m. on November 7, my brother attacked my father with a sickle or sharp‑edged weapon and caused his murder.” Based on the complaint, police registered an FIR against the minor under Section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Loni police station on Saturday. Initially, the suspect’s family told police that he was 15 years old. When the police inquired at his school, the principal provided written confirmation that he is a Class 8 student born in 2004. Based on this age, the police arrested him for murder. He is not a minor, but a major in age, according to DCP (rural) Surendra Nath Tiwari.
