IYC Suspends 300 Members for Missing Delhi Rally
By TNN

Indian Youth Congress (IYC) has suspended more than 300 office‑bearers for failing to attend the ‘Chalo Delhi’ rally of the INDIA bloc on Sunday, New Delhi. The members, who were expected to attend with Rahul Gandhi and mark their presence on the “With IYC” app, did not show up at the rally’s assembly point on Minto Road crossing. After reviewing attendance, the organisation decided to suspend 300 members across 12 states who neither attended nor provided a reason for their absence. The suspended members were informed that they could be reinstated if they perform well in future activities. Madhya Pradesh recorded the highest number of suspensions, with over 60 members, followed by Rajasthan with 32. Other affected states include Gujarat, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh (central and east), Uttarakhand, and Telangana. IYC chief Uday Bhanu Chib said about 20,000 workers attended the rally on November 1, but some office‑bearers were missing. He emphasized that discipline is crucial, especially when ordinary members turn up in large numbers. IYC has approximately 45,000 office‑bearers from the central to the assembly level. The decision was made to send a clear message that absences are unacceptable in the current political climate and that all youth members must contribute.
