Mathura police have arrested two men after a viral video showed a car dragging a woman and her daughter on its bonnet for nearly 2 km. The incident occurred on Monday night near Vrindavan Parikrama Marg in Panigaon village, under the Yamuna Par police station. Prem and Puneet allegedly went to the house of Pawan with another associate to demand money that was supposedly spent jointly in a pending court case. When the money was not paid, the trio allegedly abused and assaulted those present. About 100 villagers gathered, prompting the accused to flee in their car. As the car moved, Pawan’s mother, Sheela Devi, and his sister tried to stop the vehicle. The accused accelerated, struck the crowd, and placed the two women on the car’s bonnet. They drove for around 2 km before dropping the women near a petrol pump on Mant Road and fleeing. The injured women alerted police, who took them to a hospital. A video of the incident went viral, leading to police action. Prem and Puneet have been taken into judicial custody; police are also searching for their associate. The case, initially filed for abuse and assault, has been amended to include an attempt‑to‑murder charge after review of the evidence, according to Circle Officer Varun Mishra.
