Delhi Police will reimburse the entire tuition fees for higher‑education studies of children whose parents died in the line of duty, as part of a new welfare programme announced by Commissioner Anurag Kumar. The initiative will take effect from the 2025‑26 academic year. Additional Commissioner Rajeev Ranjan said the changes are part of a series of amendments to the Delhi Police Education Fund aimed at expanding educational assistance and recognising academic excellence among police families. Previously a fixed amount was paid annually; now the department will cover the full tuition fee. Children of serving police personnel who score more than 90 % in Class 10 and 12 will receive a one‑time incentive of ₹5,000 for each category. The scholarship for higher‑education courses, including academic, diploma and professional programmes, has been increased from ₹15,000 to ₹20,000. Students who rank among the top 1,000 in national‑level competitive examinations such as IIT‑JEE and NEET will receive ₹50,000 and a certificate of appreciation. The amendments also allow students to change their professional or trade courses after the first year without having to refund the scholarship received for that year, a benefit that can be used only once. From 1 April 2026 the fund’s contribution base will be expanded to include personnel of all ranks, while educational benefits will remain available to children of personnel from Multi‑Tasking Staff to ACP rank.
