Trump Blames Fox News for GOP Losses in 2026 Midterms
By Ravi Hari

President Donald Trump has accused Fox News of contributing to the Republican Party’s losses in the 2026 midterm elections by giving airtime to Democratic voices and critics of his administration. In a series of posts on Truth Social, Trump criticized the network for featuring former New York City mayor Bill de Blasio, questioned its coverage of Democrats, and accused its parent company, Fox Corp, of donating to Democratic politicians and organizations. The attacks came after Republicans suffered a major electoral setback, with Democrats taking control of both chambers of Congress. Trump said Fox News ratings had fallen 27 % and blamed the network’s coverage of Democrats for the GOP’s election losses. He also questioned why Fox Corp was donating money to Democratic politicians such as House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Representative Jamie Raskin, Representative Ted Lieu, and Representative Pete Aguilar, as well as to Democratic campaign committees and political action groups. Trump described Fox News polling questions as a “hit job” and dismissed the answers as “BULLSHIT.” He also criticized Fox News contributor Jessica Tarlov, saying he could not stand her voice. Fox News host Sean Hannity, a close Trump ally, acknowledged that public hostility toward the president had helped drive the election outcome, describing the hatred for Trump as unprecedented. The results marked a significant political blow to Trump, who had urged voters to treat the midterms as a referendum on his presidency.
