Nita Ambani Showcases $1.5‑$1.8 Million Dragonfly Brooch at NMACC Library Launch
By Swati Gandhi

Nita Ambani, director of Reliance Industries and founder of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC), drew attention with a dragonfly‑shaped brooch at the opening of The Library on 31 October 2026. The piece, titled ‘Soaring Spirit’ and created by jewellery artist Wallace Chan, was worn during the launch held at the NMACC in Mumbai. The brooch, which took a decade to craft, features a 17.67‑carat tsavorite garnet, yellow and other fancy‑coloured diamonds, ruby, pink sapphire, and titanium. Its estimated market value is between $1.5 million and $1.8 million, or roughly ₹12 crore to ₹15 crore.
Chan’s website describes the brooch as inspired by a dragonfly, symbolising dreams, time, freedom and harmony with nature. The design incorporates abacus‑inspired wings and a flexible titanium body that moves with the wearer. The artist notes that the dragonfly’s movements reflect calculation, measurement and a harmonious relationship with the elements.
Ambani wore the brooch with a beige linen pantsuit, a tailored blazer, flared trousers and a blush‑pink lace blouse, complemented by a statement ring and watch. The appearance occurred a day before her 63rd birthday on 1 November.
The Library, a new cultural space at NMACC, combines literature, dining and conversation to promote reading among young people. At the launch, Ambani said, “We want to bring the joy of books and reading back to the young generation.”
