Inter Miami Opt to Rest Luis Suarez Ahead of Match with New England Revolution

Inter Miami will face the New England Revolution in matchweek 33 of the 2026 MLS regular season. The club is aiming to secure a top‑four finish in the Supporters’ Shield standings, where they sit fourth with 56 points, just behind the third‑place Revolution who have 58 points. A victory would allow Inter Miami to overtake New England in the standings.
Despite the importance of the game, current MLS champions Luis Suarez will not start. Head coach Kily González has chosen Lionel Messi and German Berterame in the attack and will start winger Riquelme Fillipi. Suarez, who has been in good form and started most league games this season, was the scorer in Inter Miami’s 2‑2 draw with FC Cincinnati on the previous matchday.
Suarez is listed on the bench for today’s match and is not injured or suspended. He has only received two yellow cards this season and is available for a second‑half appearance. With the team already qualified for the playoffs, González said the decision to rest Suarez is not a significant risk.
González hinted at potential lineup changes a few days ago, noting, “There might be changes to the lineup. I am focused day to day…The rival (New England Revolution) is above us in the league table; this is a match we should play as if it were a final…we need to improve because important stuff is coming.”
