By Text Feed

Two‑time Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra said he will restart training and rehabilitation in the coming weeks after his ankle injury, which sidelined him from the Asian Games, has improved significantly. The 28‑year‑old, who won gold at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 and silver at the Paris Games in 2024, sustained the injury during training in August. After consulting orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, Chopra confirmed that doctors have cleared him to resume training. He added that he had followed the medical advice to rest fully during the initial phase.
Chopra’s last competition this year was the Lausanne Diamond League on 21 August, where he finished second. He also earned a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in July. He thanked the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) for their ongoing support.
The athlete welcomed the Union Cabinet’s approval of the Khelo India Sports Goods Manufacturing Scheme on 28 October, noting that the Rs 1800‑crore initiative will help Indian athletes source equipment locally. He praised the scheme as a major step toward making India a sports‑goods manufacturing hub.
Chopra also sent best wishes to the 17‑strong Indian team heading to the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal, urging them to enjoy the experience and use the pressure as a learning opportunity.
