Special Investigation Team Formed for Synagogue Arson Probe in Kochi
The investigation into the alleged synagogue arson has been intensified by forming a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ernakulam Central, following directions from the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Kochi City). Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala confirmed the move in response to a submission in the Assembly by MLA T.J. Vinod. He noted that the Ernakulam Central Police had registered a case under Section 326(g) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against Ebin B. Paul, a native of Ikkaranad. The Minister added that Sections 15 and 16 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) were also incorporated into the case after investigators received information suggesting possible extremist links of the accused. Central agencies are currently gathering information related to the case.
