By ANI

Air India has received approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to establish its Air India Flying Academy at Belora Airport in Amravati, Maharashtra. The academy, the first of its kind operated by an Indian airline, will cover 10 acres and feature digitally enabled classrooms, student accommodation, a digital operations centre and a dedicated maintenance facility. It will operate a fleet of 31 single‑engine and three twin‑engine aircraft for pilot training. Air India said the new facility will help expand pilot training capacity and support the growth of India’s aviation sector. The company also highlighted its investment in a 600,000‑sq‑ft training academy in Gurugram, the largest aviation training institution in South Asia, as part of a broader commitment to developing aviation talent and infrastructure in the country. The DGCA approval is a key step in Air India’s plan to build a larger pool of trained pilots and strengthen India’s aviation training ecosystem.
