Student activist and All India Students' Association (AISA) president Neha Bora urged citizens to attend the Ramlila Maidan on November 1 to defend voting rights and uphold democracy. Bora said the protest would demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, halt the special intensive revision (SIR) exercise, and withdraw the 2023 law. She posted a video on social media, concluding, “See you there.” The INDIA bloc has called for a “mega rally” to protest alleged vote theft and seek the CEC’s resignation. The rally is expected to bring opposition leaders, party workers, activists and citizens from across the country. Two days earlier, the Cockroach Janta Party announced its support for the protest, with founder Abhijeet Dipke tweeting, “GYANU MUST GO! The Cockroach Janta Party extends its support to the INDIA Bloc’s November 1 rally. Nation above all.” Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also urged people to join the “Chalo Dilli” march, saying the ruling BJP would not have the courage to crack down. The march is scheduled to start at noon from the Minto Road–Connaught Place junction and end at Ramlila Maidan. The INDIA bloc’s public impeachment of Gyanesh Kumar, originally set for October 30, was postponed to October 31 due to rain, as announced by Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh on X. The protest is part of a broader effort to protect the Constitution and prevent alleged irregularities in the electoral roll revision process.
