A senior State Department official, speaking anonymously because of visa privacy laws, confirmed that Flávio Bolsonaro and his family will receive U.S. visas following his loss to incumbent President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in Brazil’s recent election. The official said the Department will issue visas and allow the Bolsonaro family entry into the United States. Bolsonaro, who had received tacit support from former President Donald Trump, had been investigated for corruption, money laundering and tax evasion in Brazil and was ordered to surrender his passport. The official did not disclose whether Bolsonaro had already left Brazil or was traveling to the U.S. A spokesperson for Bolsonaro did not respond to a request for comment, and his campaign manager Rogério Marinho also declined to comment.
