Modi Calls for AI‑Driven Security and Innovation to Build a Developed India
By TNN

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday that while artificial intelligence can provide rapid answers, verifying their accuracy remains the scientist’s duty. Speaking at the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave, he warned of AI‑era cybersecurity threats to financial networks and national security and urged the development of AI‑based and quantum security solutions to protect national systems and serve humanity. Modi added that AI should enhance rather than limit independent thinking, freeing researchers to tackle harder problems, conduct new experiments and validate ideas. His remarks come as the government drafts a consultation paper on India’s AI policy amid calls for regulation over fears of rogue AI. Modi said a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (developed India) will depend on scientific research, discoveries and innovation. He urged researchers, industry leaders, startup founders and students to set a three‑year target for developing a technology, prototype, pilot project or product that could position India as a global solutions hub. He also called for preparing a generation that leads emerging science and technology and for expanding the country’s strength in critical technologies.
