The political sparring over the Tirumala laddu issue intensified as a senior TDP leader strongly responded to allegations raised by the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP).
The controversy, centred around the sacred Tirumala laddu prasadam offered at the Sri Venkateswara Temple, has sparked sharp exchanges between the two parties. The YSRCP had reportedly raised concerns, prompting the TDP to issue a detailed rebuttal.
In his response, the TDP leader accused the YSRCP of politicising a sensitive religious matter for electoral gain. He maintained that the management and quality of the laddu prasadam were being handled in accordance with established procedures and traditions.
The leader further alleged that attempts to create confusion around the issue were aimed at diverting attention from governance-related matters. He urged all political parties to refrain from dragging religious institutions into partisan debates.
The Tirumala laddu, which holds deep spiritual and cultural significance for millions of devotees, has historically been a subject of public sentiment in Andhra Pradesh. Any controversy surrounding it tends to trigger strong reactions from both the public and political circles.

With elections and political alignments in the state under constant scrutiny, the issue has now become part of a broader political narrative. Analysts believe that both parties are keen to position themselves as protectors of religious traditions while questioning each other’s credibility.
As the war of words continues, temple authorities and devotees alike are watching developments closely, hoping that the sanctity of the revered institution remains untouched by political rivalries.
