In the 8th edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha (PPC), Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed students on February 10, 2025, about the growing societal pressures surrounding exam performance and how it impacts their mental well-being.
Speaking to students at Sunder Nursery, New Delhi, Modi emphasized that it was unfortunate how society often links academic failure with a ruined future. This societal mindset, he pointed out, increases stress and creates unnecessary anxiety for students.
Breaking the Myth of Academic Pressure
During his interaction with students, Modi explained how many children are burdened by the pressure to perform in exams, believing that their lives are defined by their scores. “It’s unfortunate that children are made to believe that not scoring well in exams will ruin their future,” he stated, urging students not to carry the weight of such myths.
He encouraged the students to let go of external pressures, focusing instead on learning and self-reflection. Drawing a parallel to cricket, Modi advised students to be like a batsman who concentrates solely on the ball, ignoring the distractions around them.

Embracing Failure and Self-Reflection
Modi also touched upon the importance of failure as an integral part of life, urging students to treat setbacks as opportunities for growth and self-improvement. He encouraged them to reflect on their progress rather than be disheartened by temporary disappointments.
A Stress-Free Exam Approach
As part of the event, Modi distributed sweets to students, reinforcing the message of a stress-free exam environment. He reminded them that exams are just a phase in their educational journey and should not dictate their future success.

A New Approach to Exams
The interaction was part of the Pariksha Pe Charcha initiative, which aims to create an open dialogue between students and the Prime Minister about overcoming exam stress, focusing on mental health, and enjoying the learning process. The initiative continues to be an essential part of promoting well-being among the youth.
