Pune Fort Death Case Takes Shocking Turn as Police Allege Man Was Pushed Into Gorge

The death of 26-year-old Pune businessman Ketan Vishal Agrawal at Lohagad Fort has taken a shocking turn after police alleged that what first appeared to be a tragic trekking accident was actually a planned murder involving his fiancée and her alleged lover. According to police, Agrawal had gone to the popular fort near Lonavala when he fell into a deep gorge, but the circumstances around the fall raised suspicion during the investigation. Pune Rural Police later arrested his fiancée Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary, who officials alleged was in a relationship with her, claiming that the two had conspired to remove Agrawal from their path before his upcoming marriage. Reports said the victim’s family had refused to accept the incident as a simple accident and pushed for a deeper probe, after which police examined call records, statements and other clues that led them to treat the case as murder. Investigators have alleged that Agrawal was lured to the fort and pushed into the gorge, with the accused initially trying to pass off the death as an accidental fall during a trek. The case has caused shock in Pune and across Maharashtra because of the emotional nature of the allegations, the planned wedding and the dramatic setting of the incident at a well-known tourist and trekking location. While police have made arrests and are continuing their investigation, the allegations will still have to be tested through the legal process.
