Revanth Aims to Make 10 Million Women Millionaires by 2034

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced a goal of turning 10 million women into millionaires by 2034, focusing on expanding self‑help groups (SHGs) and creating business opportunities for them. Speaking to SHG members at the Lagacharla Industrial Hub in Kodangal on Sunday, November 8, 2026, he noted that about 70 lakh women were already part of SHGs and the government plans to increase membership to 10 million by 2034, ensuring each member becomes financially prosperous.
Celebrating his birthday with the women, the Chief Minister said he sees them as his family and credited their support for his success. "I have received more from you than I ever asked for. I have nothing more to aspire for in life. My goal is to make one crore women millionaires," he said.
Revanth highlighted that women are the backbone of families and that households thrive when women control finances. The government is therefore expanding women’s roles in economic activities and entrepreneurship. SHGs have been tasked with stitching school uniforms for government school students and are encouraged to run petrol bunks, participate in solar power generation, and operate Indiramma canteens in the Secretariat and other government offices. These activities reportedly generate annual business worth ₹15 crore to ₹20 crore.
Over the past 34 months, the government has extended bank‑linkage loans of ₹79 000 crore to women, and the Chief Minister praised Minister for Women and Child Welfare Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka) for her work in strengthening the SHG movement.
Regarding welfare measures, the government sanctioned 4.5 lakh new pensions on November 8, of which 3.5 lakh were for single women and widows. New pensions were also sanctioned on a saturation basis for handloom and toddy‑tapping workers. The Indiramma housing scheme and free electricity up to 200 units are additional supports for women. Nearly 37 lakh women travel free on RTC buses daily, and the government is compensating the corporation for the scheme to help it return to profitability.
Revanth urged women to move beyond dependence on welfare schemes and become entrepreneurs and industrialists, promising government support for their economic independence. He also called on women to prioritize their children’s education, especially higher education for girls, stating that "Education alone can transform their lives" and asking women to pledge on his birthday to ensure higher education for their daughters.
The Chief Minister criticized BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao for mistreating his own sister and questioned his claims of working for women’s empowerment, urging women to ask the BRS leadership what it has done for them during its ten years in power.
The programme was attended by Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, Ministers Seethakka, Damodar Rajanarasimha, Tummala Nageswara Rao and Vakiti Srihari, along with MLAs, MLCs, corporation chairpersons and senior officials. Published – November 08, 2026 06:39 pm IST
