One Dead, Three Hurt in Two Separate Shootings at Winston‑Salem State University
At least one person was killed and three others injured in two separate shootings that occurred on Saturday during the homecoming weekend at Winston‑Salem State University, a historically Black university in North Carolina, police said on Sunday. Assistant police chief Jason Swaim of the Winston‑Salem Police Department reported that both incidents took place on the university campus, but authorities have not yet determined whether the shootings were connected. Police are investigating the incidents and have declared the campus safe. The lockdown that had been imposed earlier has been lifted. Swaim did not disclose whether any arrests had been made. "The investigation is still very early in its preliminary stages," he said at a press conference early Sunday.
