Madhya Pradesh CM Orders Probe After Video Shows Water Cannon Used on Intern Doctors

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has directed police to launch an inquiry after viewing a video showing water cannons being used against intern doctors. The order follows circulation of visuals depicting the action taken against the protesting doctors, prompting the state administration to seek an official review of the incident.
The report on this development was covered by Anand Mohan J, a senior correspondent with The Indian Express who leads the publication's Madhya Pradesh bureau. He has over eight years of experience reporting from Bhopal, with particular expertise in law, internal security, and public policy.
Mohan is known for his coverage of the Maoist insurgency in central India, including exclusive reporting in late 2025 on the surrender of the last Maoist cadres in Madhya Pradesh, which led to the state being declared free of Maoist activity. His reporting has examined the backchannel negotiations and command breakdown that contributed to this outcome.
His broader body of work spans several areas of accountability journalism. In national security, he has tracked the decline of Naxalism in the central Indian region and the rehabilitation of surrendered fighters. In legal affairs, drawing on more than four years covering Delhi's trial courts and the Madhya Pradesh High Court, he has reported on custodial safety violations and misuse of the National Security Act.
Mohan is also a prominent reporter on Project Cheetah at Kuno National Park, covering the challenges of relocating cheetahs from Namibia and South Africa, along with related wildlife trafficking cases. His public health reporting has included investigations into contaminated blood transfusions that caused HIV infections among thalassemia patients, as well as the impact of fertilizer shortages on farmers.
Mohan joined The Indian Express in 2017 and previously covered Delhi's courts, police, and labor issues before moving to his current role overseeing Madhya Pradesh coverage. His notable investigations include exposing "digital arrest" scams targeting entrepreneurs, examining elephant deaths in Bandhavgarh linked to kodo millet fungus, and documenting the rollout of welfare schemes such as Ladli Behna under the state government.
