Telangana CM Criticises KTR’s Attempt to Imitate His Image

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said on Saturday that simply growing a beard does not make one look like him, in a remark aimed at Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao, popularly known as KTR. Reddy compared political posturing without substance to a fox trying to look like a tiger, adding that mere imitation would not earn KTR the trust of voters. Speaking at a gathering in Vikarabad, he noted that it took him 50 years to grow a beard and questioned how many more years it would take for KTR to gain wisdom. He warned that until the leader changes his mindset, the people of Telangana will never trust him. Reddy also said that even if KTR were to take multiple births or hang himself from a toddy tree, he would remain Taraka Rama Rao and could not become Revanth Reddy. He urged KTR to take courage to care for activists and keep them close to his heart.

No immediate comment came from KTR or the BRS at the time of reporting. The comment is part of an ongoing exchange of barbs between the Congress and the BRS over governance, leadership and development in the state. Reddy has previously alleged that despite serving as chief minister for ten years and the state budget reaching ₹20 lakh crore, BRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao has not completed any pending irrigation projects. He said the Congress government in undivided Andhra Pradesh planned the Pranahita Chevella project to irrigate over 16 lakh acres, but KCR transformed it into the Kaleshwaram project by changing its location and escalating the cost, and that the project collapsed during his regime. Reddy also accused BRS leaders of spreading disinformation that Godavari water would go to neighbouring Andhra Pradesh due to Congress negligence.
