Myles Turner to Donate Pet Meals for Every NBA Point Scored

Milwaukee Bucks center Myles Turner has become an ambassador for Humane World for Animals’ More Than a Pet campaign, linking his on‑court scoring to pet food donations. For the 2026‑2027 regular season, each point Turner scores will result in 250 meals for pets in underserved communities, and each three‑pointer will provide 1,000 meals. The program will track Turner’s performance and the corresponding meal totals on the campaign’s website.
Humane World for Animals reports that about 20 million pets live with families in poverty, and roughly 70 percent of those animals have never visited a veterinarian. The organization’s Points for Pets program has previously partnered with NBA and WNBA players. In 2024, Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball’s 1,184 points translated into 296,000 meals. In 2026, Minnesota Lynx guard Kayla McBride’s 775 points, including 126 three‑pointers, contributed 319,750 meals.
Turner’s personal connection to animal welfare stems from his cat, Casper, whom he and his fiancée adopted in 2018. Their experience led to the creation of The Casper Foundation in December 2025, a nonprofit focused on cat adoption and shelter partnerships.
Humane World for Animals notes that its broader initiatives have helped more than 750,000 pets in underserved communities by distributing 38 million pounds of pet food and 12,800 pallets of supplies worth over $130 million. Turner’s involvement is expected to raise awareness of the need for accessible pet food and veterinary services.
The More Than a Pet campaign also stresses the importance of keeping pets with their families, rather than forcing owners to surrender them due to financial hardship. The initiative demonstrates how a basketball season can support a cause beyond the scoreboard.
