Usman Praises Gane’s Dynamic Style Ahead of UFC 334 Title Fight

Kamaru Usman said he believes Ciryl Gane is one of the most unique heavyweights in the sport. Gane (14‑2 MMA, 11‑2 UFC) will defend his heavyweight title against Josh Hokit (10‑0 MMA, 4‑0 UFC) in the UFC 334 main event on Nov. 14 at Madison Square Garden in New York, streamed on Paramount+. While fighters such as Chris Weidman and Jorge Masvidal are backing Hokit, Usman sees Gane’s well‑rounded skillset and movement as too much to handle. "Honestly, I don’t think we’ve ever seen a heavyweight ever as dynamic as Ciryl Gane," Usman said on his "Pound 4 Pound" podcast with Henry Cejudo. "We’ve never seen that. We’ve never seen a heavyweight that could float around the octagon like that – switch stance, kick, elbow, knee, do it all and still be able to have a submission threat. I just think Ciryl Gane is the most dynamic heavyweight we’ve ever seen." He added that while Francis Ngannou is probably the most dangerous heavyweight in terms of power, and Cain Velasquez was an amazing champion, Gane’s current performance stands out. Usman said he does not see Hokit getting the job done, but acknowledged Hokit’s understanding of how to succeed and his growing earnings. Gane, who knocked out Alex Pereira at UFC Freedom 250, is a moderate favorite over undefeated Hokit. This article originally appeared on MMA Junkie.
