Tamil Nadu Minister for Cooperation V. Gandhiraj launched the sale of the ‘Vetri Special Vegetables Kit’ on Thursday, November 5, 2026. The kit, containing 10 varieties of vegetables, will be sold at 218 cooperative shops across the state for a subsidised price of ₹100. The launch took place at Chinthamani Super Market, Poonga Nagar Cooperative Wholesale Outlet, Anna Nagar West, Chennai. Sales will continue until November 7. Each kit includes 500 g onion, 500 g tomato, 250 g brinjal, 250 g potato, 200 g carrot, 200 g beans, 100 g green chilli, 100 g lemon, 50 g ginger and one coconut weighing 400–450 g, with a total weight of 2.55–2.6 kg. The initiative aims to provide fresh, quality vegetables at a price lower than market rates ahead of the Deepavali festival. In addition to the 218 outlets, four mobile sales vehicles in Chennai will also sell the kits; the minister flagged off these vehicles. Kits will be sold during regular working hours and limited to one per person. Beneficiaries praised the scheme, noting it would cost more than ₹150 if purchased individually. P.
