By ANI

At the first National Conference on the “Life, Struggle and Constitutional Legacy of Bharat Ratna Dr B.R. Ambedkar” held at Bharat Mandapam, Chief Justice of India Surya Kant urged organisers to identify poor students who wish to pursue careers in law and to provide them with financial assistance. He said the judiciary would support these students for the initial three to five years of their studies, helping them create a space for themselves after passing law school. The CJI added that it is a duty and responsibility to provide such aid and to see that these students succeed. Earlier, at a felicitation program organised by the Coordination Committee of All Delhi District Bar Associations at Rouse Avenue District Court, he highlighted the importance of professional ethics and the role of the lower judiciary, noting that a person first encounters the judicial system at the district court. He also praised women lawyers who serve as bar leaders at various levels and stressed the influence a senior lawyer can have on a young lawyer’s career. The CJI recalled his own early days in legal practice, beginning at the High Court in Chandigarh.
