On Friday, the Bharatiya Janata Party staged a rally in Mysuru to defend the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, which the Congress party has criticized as a “false narrative.” The event, titled “Save Democracy and Eradicate Anarchy,” began outside the North Gate of Mysuru Palace at the Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple and moved to Town Hall for a public meeting. BJP supporters carried placards supporting the SIR.

BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra, Mysuru Member of Parliament Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, and former Minister C.T. Ravi led the rally. At Town Hall, Mr. Wadiyar accused the INDIA bloc of attempting to undermine the Constitution and create anarchy. He noted that the Election Commission of India removed 13 crore names from the voters’ list during the SIR, citing people who had moved, deceased voters, and duplicate or bogus entries. He said that despite clear information, some people were deliberately stirring trouble and that the INDIA bloc was trying to create disorder.

Mr. Wadiyar also criticized the former UPA government as “riddled with scams” and called Congress leaders “spokespersons for anarchy.” He expressed confidence that the BJP would return to power at the Centre and that an NDA government would also come to power in Karnataka.

Mr. Vijayendra targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, claiming that the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha dreams of becoming Prime Minister “by hook or crook.” He said it was “impossible” for Mr. Gandhi to become Prime Minister and alleged that the Congress is conspiring to bring down the NDA government. He accused the party of organizing protests in Delhi and elsewhere to destabilize the Union government and of creating confusion in the country.

The rally also featured former MP Pratap Simha, former Minister N. Mahesh, State General Secretary Preetham Gowda, Chief Whip of the Opposition BJP in the Legislative Council N. Ravikumar, and MLA Srivatsa. The event was held on November 6, 2026, at 8:17 pm IST.
