Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced on X that the company will stop producing Cybertrucks at its Gigafactory Texas around mid‑next year to free capacity for increased Cybercab production. The Cybertruck, released in 2023, has sold far below Musk’s initial target of 250,000 units per year. In 2024, 38,965 units were sold, and sales fell to 20,237 in 2025. Musk did not indicate whether production would move to another facility. The announcement follows the Cybertruck’s polarising design and its role as a symbol of opposition to Musk amid his growing involvement in U.S. politics. Musk described the Cybertruck as the “best vehicle Tesla has ever made” and referred to the change as the “end of an era.”
