Fire at South Delhi Kia Showroom Leaves Seven Injured, 12–15 Rescued
By HT News Desk

A fire broke out at a Kia car showroom in South Delhi’s Saidulajab area on Friday afternoon, damaging several vehicles and injuring seven people. Around 12–15 people were rescued from the building, according to Deputy Magistrate Lakshya Singhal, who told PTI that the fire was brought under control but a search operation was underway to ensure no one was still trapped or had died.
Singhal said the incident was reported at about 3.45 pm, when the showroom opposite the metro station caught fire. The fire department, police, and other agencies were immediately mobilised, and the SDM and SHO arrived on the scene.
Of the seven injured, four were taken to MAX Hospital and three to Madan Mohan Malviya Hospital. Emergency teams used ladders against neighbouring buildings to reach people on upper floors, and local residents helped with the rescue.
The Delhi Fire Services received the call at around 3.47 pm and dispatched 10 fire tenders. Thick black smoke rose from the showroom, and several cars parked inside caught fire as flames spread through the premises. The blaze attracted a large crowd, causing traffic disruptions on the adjoining road; police cleared the area to allow emergency vehicles access.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Teams from the fire department, police, revenue department, Delhi Disaster Management Authority, ambulance services, and CATS were involved in the operation.
No casualties have been reported so far, and the building is being searched to rule out any further casualties.
