Nita Ambani Highlights Banarasi Craftsmanship at Reliance Deepawali Utsav 2026

Nita Ambani showcased traditional Indian textile craftsmanship at the Reliance Deepawali Utsav 2026, wearing a handwoven Banarasi Ramavali saree that blended religious symbolism with intricate artisanal work. Photos of her outfit were posted on Instagram by the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) on November 4. The event took place at the Jio World Centre, where the founder and chairperson of the Reliance Foundation chose a traditional red ensemble to highlight the artistic heritage of Banaras. Ambani wore a red Swadesh Ramavali saree made by master artisan Ajay Bhoj. The vermillion‑red Banarasi silk saree features the chant “Shri Ram Jay Ram” woven across its body, inspired by traditional namavali scriptures that display holy names. Its border has elaborate gold zari brocade with floral motifs, and the pallu is embellished with embroidered Om symbols and divine footprints. She paired the saree with a matching red silk blouse that has fine diagonal gold patterns, known as jaal or boti work, and heavy brocade borders around the mid‑length sleeves. The ensemble combines Banarasi weaving traditions, religious motifs and detailed zari craftsmanship.
Known for her statement jewellery, Ambani complemented the saree with a heavy, multi‑layered necklace in a traditional temple jewellery style. The necklace features intricate gold work, uncut diamonds (polki), green emerald beads, and dangling pearl drops along the fringe. She finished the look with oversized statement jhumkas that match the necklace, stackable gold bangles, and bracelets with hints of red. Her makeup was understated, with a small red bindi.
Ambani is the founder and chairperson of the Reliance Foundation and Dhirubhai Ambani International School, and serves on the board of Reliance Industries. She is an educationist, philanthropist, businesswoman, patron of arts and sports, and advocate for women’s and children’s rights. She is also the first Indian elected an honorary trustee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
Meanwhile, Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani became the world’s biggest billionaire wealth gainer, adding over USD 6 billion to his fortune in a single day as shares of the company surged after a stronger‑than‑expected quarterly earnings performance. According to Forbes’ Real‑Time Billionaires list, Ambani’s wealth increased by 7.85 percent, or USD 6.3 billion, making him the biggest gainer globally in the latest update on November 2.
