Actor Siddharth Bodke Discusses Portraying Subrata Roy in Upcoming 'Scam 2010' Series

Siddharth Bodke said playing Subrata Roy in Hansal Mehta’s upcoming series "Scam 2010" has been one of the most challenging and special experiences of his career. He explained that he was drawn to understanding the man behind the larger‑than‑life public image, wanting to explore who Roy really was, what motivated him, and why he made certain choices.

Bodke added that living with the character for an extended period taught him a great deal, both as an actor and as a person. He praised working with Mehta, describing it as an incredible learning experience and a lot of fun. He noted that the "Scam" series already has a strong legacy and that being trusted to continue it is a huge responsibility.

Sony LIV released the first look of "Scam 2010," the third installment in its popular franchise, on Monday. The series is backed by Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment, directed by Hansal Mehta, and is scheduled to premiere in January 2027.

"Scam 2010" focuses on the life and controversial business journey of Subrata Roy, founder of the Sahara India Pariwar conglomerate in 1978. The story is based on journalist Tamal Bandyopadhyay’s book "Sahara: The Untold Story" and covers Roy’s rise as one of India’s largest business empires and the legal controversies that followed. Roy was investigated by the Securities and Exchange Board of India over fund‑raising through Sahara’s financial schemes, was arrested in 2014 in connection with contempt proceedings, and died in November 2023.

The series marks Hansal Mehta’s return to the franchise after the success of "Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story," which chronicled the 1992 Indian stock market scam and the rise and fall of stockbroker Harshad Mehta, played by Pratik Gandhi. Gandhi’s performance in "Scam 1992" helped establish him as a prominent performer in Hindi entertainment beyond Gujarati cinema.
