Mahhi Vij Sparks Debate on Bigg Boss 20 After Bringing Up Co-Contestants' Divorces
By etimes.in

Bigg Boss 20 has been generating buzz since its premiere, with contestants including boxer Mary Kom, Mahhi Vij, Kanika Mann and Amrapali Dubey drawing attention. In a recent episode, Mahhi Vij raised the subject of Isha Rikhi and Mary Kom's divorces, though both women declined to discuss the matter. Vij's remark describing the season as a "divorcee special" has since become a widely discussed moment.
During the episode, Vij's own personal life came up multiple times. The actress, known for Laagi Tujhse Lagan, separated from her husband Jay Bhanushali earlier this year. While discussing Kanika Mann's relationship status and suggesting a potential match with Rohed Khan, Kanika turned the question back on Mahhi, asking if she was single. Mahhi did not respond and remained quiet.
Later, while talking to Isha Rikhi about the topics she enjoys discussing, Mahhi said she likes gossip, adding in Hindi that there are three divorcees on the show — Isha, herself and boxer Mary Kom — and that all three were now in their "second innings," calling it a "divorcee special."
Continuing the conversation, Mahhi asked Isha why she had joined Bigg Boss. Isha explained that she has always kept a low profile and many people do not know her. Mahhi pointed out that Isha had been visible online for the past two months. Isha responded that she did not want to be recognized merely as someone's girlfriend or wife, but for her own identity and name.
Later, in the living area with other contestants, Mahhi again raised the subject of Mary Kom's divorce, but the boxer chose not to discuss it. Mahhi encouraged her and Isha to speak about it, arguing that they could focus on positive memories rather than negativity about an ex-partner. Isha appeared visibly upset and asked why Mahhi kept pushing them to talk about something they had chosen to keep private.
Mahhi Vij and Jay Bhanushali announced their separation in January this year after 14 years of marriage. In a joint social media statement, the couple said they were prioritizing peace over conflict and confirmed they continue to respect and support one another despite pursuing different paths. The former couple continues to co-parent their daughter Tara along with foster children Khushi and Rajveer, with both parents frequently sharing family moments on social media.
